A few of our sims are "themed". This means, that residents owning or renting land in those sims have to conform to a small set of building rules in addition to the Covenant of The OTHERLAND Group. These rules are not there to torture our fellow Otherlanders but to preserve an overall style in the sim (usually the style that initially attracted people to the sim at first).
The Sims
The following sims on The OTHERLAND Archipelago are styled in the Theme "Maledives":
- Ellaidhu
- Eriyadhu
- Biyadhu
- Maayafushi
- Male
- Ghan
- Khao
- Makunudu
- Kuredhu
- Hinnavatu
- Neifaru
- Diapason
- Kanuhurae
- Faadhoo
- Hudhufushi
- Komandhoo

The Theme
The "real" Maledives", which inspired us to create these beautiful sims are a chain of small coral islands near the equator (in the vincinity of India). Living and building on a sim with this theme means:
- Buildings have to be low slung huts and bungelows predominantly. There is no need to build only wooden houses/huts. A stylish bungelow in white concrete, (a little) steel and glass, is fine too. But no other strongly "themed" style of building. For example: no "american praerie" or victorian houses, no medieval castles, skyscrapers or futuristic buildings.
- The parcels should not be deforrested. Either the initial vegetation has to stay in place (usually palms, tropic plants and flowers) or some vegetation in a similar style has to be replaced after building. We will gladly supply you with automated tree seeds that make it very easy to rebuild some vegetation. You can add your own vegetation, of course, but it should "fit" in style with the initial one. (No needle trees, olive trees or blooming pink cherry trees for example.)
- No flying structures in the air below 300m. This means buildings. Eagles are welcome! :)
That's it. The OTHERLAND Covenant is applicable to, of course. Nothing to serious, we hope. But if you simply can not live with these rules ... we have a lot of other areas available on the OTHERLAND Archipelago that are not themed at all. :)
